Blogging for Cash

I have run across banner ads for Today.com on so many occasions that, in the end, I decided to sign up following the advice in a forum from a writer colleague. Today.com is a blogging network, where you get the opportunity to blog for some extra cash.

If you enjoy writing, if you have a hobby, or something to tell the world and a spare fifteen minutes a day, this might be a good opportunity for you. As they usually say: “You would do it anyway, so... why not get paid for it?” In this blogging network you get paid $1 per post containing at least 100 words. Post once a day and get paid $30-31 a month. It doesn’t sound like a fortune but so far this is the only network I have found that pays you to blog about anything you want.

You don’t need to advertise someone else’s products, they don’t pay you to write reviews or endorsements, this is not one of this payperpost schemes. You just choose your subject and blog as usual. Publish and get paid.

At Today.com you can also make extra money in different ways:
-By their referrals program, (for bloggers) you get paid $5 by referring a friend to blog for cash.
-By their referrals program (for advertisements) sell advertisement spots on your site (by placing a link or writing a post) and share part of the revenue.
-Be paid $2.00 per 1000 unique visits to your site.
-There are even monthly bonuses for the blogger with the biggest number of referrals.

Some of their members report getting hundreds of dollars of monthly income.

To create an account is straight forward and easy. Apply following the link provided below (or clicking on the banner at the top), you will have to choose the name of the blog and the subject. In the question where they ask who refer you indicate the name of the blogger that is referring you. I enter as user name: magan.

It might take some days (or even weeks) for the blog to be approved as there is a high number of applications. But once you receive your approval, they will send you the link to activate your account. Once activated you are on your way, start blogging! (they review your blog after you publish 30 posts over 30 individual days, so hold on there it is just your first month)

At the end of the day, what is 100 words for some extra income in your pocket?

Hubpages, the hidden potential

Everybody seems to know about Squidoo, but not everyone seems to know the hidden potential of hubpages.

Hubpages is a free website, in which you can publish your articles in any topic you want and make some extra income. The extra income comes through advertisement from sources such as Google Adsense and Kontera, also from affiliate links mainly from Amazon and Ebay among other sources.

However, you can also use hubpages to double your efforts and your sales results when you are marketing your products and your website. This social media can actually bring traffic to your website, in this way you can promote your website and your products while attracting traffic. The effectiveness of this media is in their double use as a free standing website with content and products to sell and as a free marketing tool that will attract the traffic and close the sale. At the end of the day, what business check are numbers and conversion rates, what we actually need is a powerful marketing tool and Hubpages might have that potential

Twitter: Users & Traffic

Twitter seems to be the next big revolution. I opened my twitter account recently this year to keep updated friends and family on my online endeavours. A few more fans have been so kind as to follow me in my efforts.

To set up a twitter account is as basic as "abc", literally in a couple of minutes everything is set up and you are ready to start sending your first tweets. What is a tweet? A tweet is a short online message of 140 characters that answers the question “What are you doing now?” As idle idea as it may seem Twitter has now over 6 million users even president Barack Obama seems to be a twitter advocate with over 539,000 followers.

Lately some big companies start to recognise the marketing potential of twitter. Could you believe that the times of most active traffic in Twitter seem to be working hours? That is food for thought!

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

The task these days is keeping myself motivated and still on track which is proving to be quite a challenge but at least, I am keeping on track.

I have recently put my hands on this book, a real winner, if you need motivation, this book will cover your needs and more. T. Harv Eker examines the roots of success and failure, the rich and the poor, those roots are situated in a place as deep as our own mind, there, in your thoughts is where your success starts. Do you see challenges in life as opportunities or as obstacles?, do you play in life to win, or are you the kind of person that is happy with “not to lose”? Do you think you are the author of your life or a victim? Do you create your life or life just happens to you?

Those are the kind of questions that differentiate a rich person from a poor. T. Harv Eker says: “Rich people make their money work hard for them. Poor people work hard for their money” The book is full of small pearls of wisdom together with very personal advice to see you from where you are to where you want to be.
And…Who is T. Harv Eker? Well, the guy actually has certain authority to talk about millionaire mind; he took a $2.000 credit card loan and opened a fitness centre which he turned into a chain of 10 stores in 2 years and a half and ended up selling it for over $1.5 million.

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind is the book that will push you into action. If you have missed it I can really recommend it. You will not be able to stop reading until you get to the last page. Guaranteed!

Visualization tool from The Secret

I have finally finished watching my “pending part” of the film. What a great film, it is just that nice positive sensation that you feel after you finish watching it. I was just checking in youtube today and I found this nice video. If you liked the film, now the team from The Secret has created a visualization tool that you can download for free and you can use every day "The Secret to you". You can go to their website http://thesecret.tv/secret-to-you

Meanwhile, just turn up your speakers and enjoy.

The Secret to riches

This weekend I decided to watch, at last a film I have waited long to watch, although I haven’t managed to watch the whole movie, it has felt really inspirational. I have still pending the last part of the film but I hope to finish it this week.

“The Secret” is such an acclaimed and well known movie, although it is actually a series of interviews about what attracts riches and success to your life to have everything you ever dreamt of. It’s about the universal law of attraction, a secret known to many successful people and how they used it in their lives to reach their goals. A really nice film, if you need something uplifting, this is definitely a good one.

Adgitize, alternative to Google Adsense

This is my last discovery which I have been trying for a few days now and so far so good. You place Adgitize adverts in your website and they pay you for it.

Well, actually no, it is not that simple, it gets even better. The network pays you just for displaying the adverts in your website; if visitors don’t click you get paid, if visitors click on them you get paid more. When you become part of this network everything becomes a win-win situation. They even pay you to get involved in their community, to visit other blogs inside the network.

The network sends visitors to your page. I have seen my number of visits increased since the few days I have been part of their network. What is more they even pay you to blog. This is not similar to “pay-per-post”, nobody asks for any review of any product or website. You just submit your rss feed to the network and when their feed spiders crawl your blog if you have a new post? You get paid.

Everyone knows that blog that doesn’t get updated frequently loses its visitors. No visitors equal no clicks on adverts and therefore no visits to the advertised companies either. Adgitize response is a clever one; they give a nice incentive to bloggers to keep updating their blogs. In this way everyone wins, bloggers are happy, advertisers are happy, Adgitize is happy.

Adgitize is free and easy to sign up, you can choose the number of adverts you display, the size and the place where they will go on your website. As easy as that, you get the code you add it to your blog.

You can check day by day the reports easily accessible to see how much money you have accumulated in the day, in previous days or in the month.

Even the minimum payment is an advantage. Set up at just $10 by Paypal, Adgitize is a serious contender to Adsense. I find difficult to find something I don’t like from Adgitize. In fact, until now, I haven’t found anything yet.

Should you have any problems, contact their support team through their website and they will reply straight to you. Personally, I have found them quick and friendly.

If you decide to join the network, please consider using my link, provided, I appreciate your support.

Martin Lewis' Money Diet

It is nearly impossible to live in the UK without knowing who Martin Lewis (“the money saving expert”) is. I count myself as one of his million fans who follow him series after series of his successful tv programs “Make me rich” and the latest “It pays to watch!”.

If you need to sort out your finances his book is for you. In his particular style Martin advises on how to save money still keeping your lifestyle. The book is full of practical advice, easy to understand even if you don’t have a clue about your numbers.

His advice covers topics such as how to organise your credit cards, get the best mortgage deals, pay the bills and find the cheapest utilities’ companies, which banks to use. According to the printed book it can help an average family to save up to £6000 a year and, in fact, in some cases I can believe it.

Martin Lewis talks about “forgetting our loyalties” How many of us stick with the same provider without checking the competition just because it is easier, comfortable or because we have always been with that company? Yes, most of us. Martin Lewis makes a wakeup call to check the competition and to keep slashing the bills.

Have you ever heard of “Pay back sites”? so many of us hadn’t. Martin advices on sites where you can get the service you where already going to pay for, but in this case “being paid for taking it through this websites” in other words “they actually pay you back, part of the money you were going to spend anyway”.

The Money Diet: The Ultimate Guide to Shedding Pounds Off Your Bills and Saving Money on Everything! is a book you just can't afford to miss. The author is awesome regarding his professionalism and his practical advice (the guy knows his stuff). His website has over one million visits a month, can you beat that? There is nothing more you can add until you read the book and you tell us how much how you saved this year. Go for it!

Kontera ContentLink, an alternative to Adsense

Fortunately, there are still a few alternatives to Google Adsense in the market. The first one is Kontera ContentLink.

Kontera ContentLinks is in some ways similar to Google Adsense. You have your adverts in your website and you earn each time a visitor clicks on them.

To sign up with them is very easy and actually my account got approved and everything up and running in no time at all. They will give you the code that then you placed in your template and the adverts will appear after a few hours. In theory, the adverts are related to the content of your website, which most of them are, however the practise is that it is not always the case.

What makes different Kontera from Google is that actually the adverts are links placed inside the content of your posts (they are the ones with double underline). They are not as visible as Google adsense or other adverts are (although you can change the colour to make it more or less visible). However, the real advantage is that they are exactly where the visitor is focused on, the text. This innovative way of placing the adverts is what makes Kontera so successful and according to some publishers so easy to build their income.

Although Kontera minimum payment is set up exactly at the same amount as Google it seems that is not as hard to build the amounts little by little with Kontera, and, with all the rumours about adsense accounts closed for no reason, at least you don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

Searching for alternatives

I had so much hope of making money with paid reviews that when I made the decision of not taking part on it, I went through a really bad time. As I keep repeating in my head “where there is a will, there is a way”, I have decided to keep my mind in a positive state, so I have been making lists of other alternatives I might have at hand.

The first one was to add, at least, one site more so I double the chances to get some money that will help towards my debt.

The second one was to do as much as I could regarding Marketing (with the little time that I had). This has brought more visitors to the sites, therefore adding to the chances of the site becoming more popular.

These days I am checking into alternatives to Adsense, it seems very clear that Adsense is the clear path for so many people, however you have to have a serious number of visitors (and “click throughs”) to make the mark in which you would be able to collect the money through your paypal account, and that might seem eternally slow. So lately, I am considering the possibilities of looking for some sponsors that would like to advertise in the website and receive certain amount of money at the end of the month. Well, I will keep you posted on that.

In the meantime, feel free to share some ideas. What alternatives do you find more efficient than Google Adsense? What do you do to monetise your website?

Monetise your blog

Since I read Multiple Streams of Internet Income I felt somehow inspired and back on track again. Trying to follow its advice I have been building a new blog and filling it up with content these days. I have added adsense and left it there for now (well, of course I keep updating it). Unless the products on your website are really good, chances are you will not be able to make a living on it, at least, not with one blog. There are some niches that have good chances and if you are a geek and your website has LOTS of visitors you might stand a chance. Mine is still starting and most days I don’t get more than 50 visitors.

Another important factor, I have realised, is Marketing, in my case it is everything. As the site is not well known I don’t get too many recommendations by word of mouth yet, that is one of the reasons I have inserted a “Subscribe button”, although people might like what they see, they wouldn’t remember in a few days time your website’s address, however, providing a “Subscribe button” you give them chance to get updates every time straight in their inbox. Is there anything easier than that?

Submitting articles to directories, submitting your site to search engines, are different forms of marketing that will bring visitors to your website, the best part of it is that they are free, at least until you have some spare money to spend on Google campaigns and you decide to pay and put some ads up on other sites, but for that there is still a long time.

Dave Ramsey’s Total money makeover

I just decided to include a second review that might help some readers to give that important step and kick into action.

The book offers a complete plan to get out of debt and achieve your financial goals. It includes useful worksheets, charts and graphs to follow the seven steps plan of this financial guru.

For those, that find their way hard and become discouraged, the book comes full of inspiring stories from people like you who either are on their way or have succeeded following Ramsey’s plan. If the label “financial book” turns you off, this book is the exception.

The book is easy to read, easy to understand, full of useful strategies and solid advice with a common sense approach. It is so encouraging that so many have already turned their lives around following Dave Ramsey’s advice.
Dave Ramsey (radio talk show host, bestselling author and exceptional financial guru) will give you the push that you need to get into action and accomplish your goals.

Update on PPP sites

My update on Pay per post sites doesn't come too long after my decision to join them. Well, it seems to be a bit of controversy going on about the subject; some bloggers (publishing posts sponsored by these sites) have lost their page rank in google and with the page rank, they have lost chances to monetise their blog. So following the advise of some other bloggers, I have decided not to take any chances. It might seem a good idea in the short term, but I wouldn't like all my work thrown away for anything.

As they say "where there is a will, there is a way", so I am not giving up. I just have to find a different way to do it.

Get paid to blog

You do it anyway, so why not get paid for it?

This is a new step, after all, the purpose of this blog is to be able to make a full time income and become debt free, so I have given a thought about those sites and started my new quest.

I have decided to try a few of these and if somehow they are good I will be recommending them and updating the readers. However, I will not compromise my integrity, I will write reviews of products that I wouldn't have any problem recommending even if I weren't being paid. Every sponsored post will be indicated clearly so readers know that what they are reading is a sponsored review.

Multiple streams of internet income

One of the things I have been doing these days is going through my book “Multiple Streams of Internet Income: How Ordinary People Make Extraordinary Money Online” by Robert G. Allen. It’s a fact, the vast majority of people that succeed in internet they do it by building multiple streams of income.

If you are new to make a living online you will love this book. It’s easy to read, easy to understand with step by step instructions to apply, even if you don’t know anything about internet marketing. The book provides the reader with multiple ideas to make money online and enough material and resources to make it happen.

I still find it useful to have a look from time to time, there is so many things that you can forget over time. I find the book refreshing, full of ideas and I find myself inspired enough to keep going with work.

The book became a best seller in the U.S. and its author, Robert Allen, has an already established reputation as an entrepreneur and mentor. The combination of the two makes the book worth a look if you have some time in your hands.

Update

So many things to do and such a little time in my hands! I have been so busy these days that I haven’t been able to update my blog. I am keeping up with my surveys, quite a good part of my time and I am learning as much as I can the rest of “any minutes” that I have spare.

My day lasts 24 hours, no more, no less. When I finally manage to get to work, that is when the kids go to bed, all I have left is an average of three hours. How much work can you manage to pack in such a short time?

Well,... you would be surprised!

Paid Surveys: Cashle

These last days I have been quite excited. I have found a new website for paid surveys and offers. And so far, I think that, this one, is going to be my favourite.

You can check it out:

Actually is really similar to Cashcrate another really good website. The site pays you to fill surveys and complete offers. As Cashcrate some of them you have to pay however, there are plenty that are 100% free.

Through Cashle you can earn money in different ways:

- Completing surveys and offers.
- They also have a good referral program that pays up to $1 for any new member that signs up and a commission of 15% on any money that your referral makes ( your referral doesn’t get less money paid, this is just your commission), there are two more levels of referrals at 3% and 2%.

The very best advantage is that there is no minimum withdrawal, which means that you can sign up and start earning money straight away, no wait for minimums to reach, you can withdraw it at any time from your paypal account.

New Year's resolution

Another year has gone, and for once in a long time I feel really motivated to reach my goal.

My new year’s resolution are:

1-Focus, focus, focus!! Too many things to do around the house, shopping, laundry, cleaning, (did we say anything about kids?) I need to focus on one thing at a time. Learn to prioritise and leave what is not important for later.

2-Organise!!! Write clearly my goals and place them in BIG in front of my area of work (Positive statements, the reason why I am doing them, nice photos that will motivate me...anything will do). Write monthly plans, weekly plans and daily tasks and follow through.

3-Strive to achieve £2,000 a month difficult to say, difficult to achieve at the beginning however I am sure that persistence will pay, so I am not going to allow myself to feel discouraged.

What about yours? What are you going to do this year to become debt free? Please leave a comment and share some of your ideas, I would love to hear them.
